Using a Sunmi D3 as your POS
A Sunmi D3 puts the POS, the receipt printer and the customer screen in one machine. How to set it up with Bill&Go, and the two printing choices that matter most.
A POS counter usually means a tablet, a stand, a receipt printer, a cable and a second screen. A Sunmi D3 has them in one machine: an Android POS terminal with an 80mm printer built in and a second screen that faces the customer. The Bill&Go POS app uses all of it.
This guide is the order to set it up in, and why. If you have a Sunmi T2 or another Sunmi POS device with a built-in printer, the printing steps are the same.
Sign in as the owner or a manager
Install Bill&Go POS on the D3, sign in and choose the store. Use an owner’s or a manager’s account for the set-up: staff can see these settings, but not change them.
Decide what the D3 prints
Open Settings, then This device prints. This is the first of the two choices that matter.
- Everything for this store, if the D3 is the only printing device in the shop. It then prints every ticket, like a printing computer would.
- Only this till’s papers, if a printing computer or a box prints the rest. It then prints only the orders rung up on it.
Get this wrong and paper goes missing: with Only this till’s papers and nothing else printing, online orders and shift summaries have nothing to print them.
Decide what its printer takes
Press Turn on printing. Under This till’s printer, tap the papers it takes, press Add this till’s printer, then Print a test page. This is the second choice.
A POS uses its own printer before any other of that type, so this decides where the paper comes out.
- Leave it on Bills if you have a kitchen printer on the network. The D3 sends kitchen tickets there by its address, and the bill prints at the counter.
- Add Kitchen tickets only if you want them at the POS, for example in a small café where the person at the counter also makes the food.
- With no kitchen printer at all, kitchen tickets print at the POS either way.
The built-in printer takes bills and kitchen tickets, not cup stickers: those need a Label printer on the network. It shows on the console’s Printers page with the rest, and only the D3 can print on it.
Turn on the customer screen
In Settings, under This device, turn on Customer screen on the second display. When the POS is quiet it shows your pictures or your logo. Then it shows the order as it is rung up, the total, the KHQR to scan, and Paid and Thank you. Your own pictures are added in the console and come with the paid plans.
Plug in the rest
- Cash drawer: plug it into the D3, then in the console choose its printer under the store’s Cash drawer. It opens on cash payments, and never for card or QR. See Open the cash drawer.
- Scale: a USB scale is set up under Scale in Settings.
- Barcode scanner: a USB scanner types like a keyboard, with nothing to set up.
Keep it working
- The D3 prints only while someone from the shop is signed in to the app.
- It counts as one of your plan’s printing devices.
- If it is switched off, its orders go to the store’s other printing devices after a short while. With no other device, tickets wait until it is back.
- To keep staff on the POS, see what a lock can and cannot do.

Questions
Does Bill&Go work on a Sunmi D3?
Yes. The Bill&Go POS app prints on its built-in printer once This device prints is on, and shows the customer screen on its second display.
Do I need a computer with a Sunmi D3?
No. Set the D3 to print Everything for this store and it does the printing itself, on its own printer and to any network printers.
Can the Sunmi D3 print cup stickers?
Not on its built-in printer, which takes bills and kitchen tickets. Cup stickers need a label printer on the network, which the D3 can print to.
